New Years Eve is right around the corner and with it comes the opportunity to start afresh with a new set of resolutions. According to this article, roughly one in three Americans set New Years goals every year but only 75% of people stick to their goals for at least a week, and less than half are still on target by June. Why is it so difficult to keep New Years resolutions? Part of the problem comes from the arbitrariness of setting them on January 1st. As one yoga instructor wisely put it, "If you don't have your shit together on December 31st, you're not going to have your shit together on January 1st." Start your resolution as soon as you think of it, because if you put it off because it's not the New Year yet, chances are that you will put it off once the New Year has begun. (Another obstacle comes from the fact that New Years starts with a night of heavy drinking, which isn't ideal for motivation the day after. Party responsibly, fam.)
