MODA Summer Style Guide: Formal Office

True story - I once showed up to class wearing the same blazer* as my professor in a different color. It was J.Crew, longline with sleek lapels and a popped collar and looked just as good with my skinny jeans and silk scarf as it did with her blouse and skirt. However I understand that few people my age love blazers as much as I do (I own about half a dozen and always on the hunt for more) which can make dressing for summer internships hard, especially in a formal office with a conservative dress code where it might seem all that flies is a drab pantsuit or black shift dress with an aforementioned blazer.

The key to dressing stylishly even in a more buttoned up environment (bye bye crop tops) is classic shapes in cohesive color palettes. Don't feel bound to abide by the classic white blouse and black bottom combo. For summer I love navy, white and a splash of coral but soft neutrals and brighter pops of color work too. The emphasis is balance. Colorful prints can be okay, if it's a conservative cut or restrained to a pair of flats.

Tailored Shift Dress + Sleek Flats + Cardigan = Easy Dress Outfit

Tapered Printed Pant + Silky Blouse + Medium Heel Pumps = Easy Pants Outfit

Fitted Pencil Skirt + Loose Cropped Tank + Loafers = Easy Skirt Outfit

*It is a fantastic and incredibly versatile piece, especially in camel, highly recommend it!
